The red-bellied slider turtle is characterised by its brightly coloured underside and its colouration can vary from orange, yellow, red and pink. Like other freshwater turtles, they alternate periods in the water with sunbathing to regulate their body temperature.
Loggerhead turtles do not retract their heads into the shell like other turtles, but lay their heads and necks to one side under the shell.
