Llamas belong to the camelid family and are related to camels and dromedaries, but lack humps. Llamas originate from the Andes in South America and are not only adept at navigating slopes and difficult terrain, but are also very strong. Llamas have lived alongside humans for thousands of years, partly for their wool, milk, and meat. Llamas come in a variety of colours such as brown, white, black, and beige. Llamas are known for spitting up semi-digested food that they regurgitate from their oesophagus. This usually occurs in situations where the llama feels threatened, or to assert its position within the group.
