Ex-situ

Conservation work is carried out both inside and outside the zoo. When work takes place in the zoo, it is called ex-situ, which means that it takes place outside the area where the species originally comes from. At Parken Zoo, we participate in many such projects, and you can read more about them here.

In-situ

When conservation work takes place in the wild, it is called in-situ, which means ”in its original place”, referring to the area where the species is or was naturally found. The Zoo contributes to several such projects, and you can find out more about them here.
