Another conservation breeding programme with new arrivals

16 April 2018

In mid-March, our female sand cat, Ramella, gave birth. The sand cat is one of the many conservation breeding programmes that zoos run, and also one of the few species whose conservation status has actually decreased, which we are incredibly pleased about. We have supported the local organisation ”Sand Cat Sahara Research Team” which works to map the wild sand cat population and their behaviour. In 2017, the group managed to film wild sand cat kittens, which has likely never been done before. Would you like to read more or contribute, please visit Panthera organisation.

Here you can see the film of the wild sand cat kittens.
