World Environment Day

5 June 2018

Today, on World Environment Day, founded by the United Nations, the theme is plastic and the major environmental problems it creates. Plastics are one of the major challenges facing our environment and statistics show that there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish by 2050 if nothing is done.

Every year, 8 million tonnes of plastic reaches our oceans, threatening marine life and its population and destroying our natural ecosystems.

Together, we can slow down this trend, by raising awareness and making active choices in favour of a sustainable future. We can all help by reducing waste, avoiding single-use and plastic items wherever possible, recycling and consuming less and in a more sustainable way.
