The capybara, or water pig as it is also known, is actually related to the guinea pig and is the largest rodent in the world! They spend a lot of time in the water and are very good swimmers. In northern and central South America, where they live, they are hunted for their skin. Capybaras are also bred for meat, just like we do with cows, pigs, chickens, etc. Our capybaras can be found in the South American part of the park where they live together with our tapirs.
