Yesterday, we were able to welcome little Melwin into the world. He was born around half past two and everything went well. His mother's name is Malwina and the pack also includes Adina and Bosse, both born at the zoo, as well as Paloma, Telina and Sabrina.
The alpaca is a camelid and is related to the vicuña, llama, and guanaco. It originates from the Andes in Peru, Chile, and Bolivia and was domesticated 6,500 years ago.
